Preamble
Karpagam Institute of Technology is one of the reputed Self-Financing Engineering Colleges in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The college was established at Coimbatore in the year 2007 by Karpagam Charity Trust. At present, the Institution offers Six Undergraduate programmes in Engineering and Technology. The Institution is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and accredited by NAAC with A++. The College has been awarded an Autonomous status from the Academic Year 2024 – 25 for 10 years. As an autonomous institution, various functional bodies are established to develop effective processes for curriculum design, examination conduct, evaluation, and the formulation of rules and regulations. These efforts ensure the efficient implementation of autonomy within the examination system.
The institution has constituted the Board of Studies and the Academic Council with the approval of the College Governing Council (GC). These bodies are entrusted with specific powers and responsibilities in accordance with UGC guidelines. The institution has also formulated regulations for the conduct of undergraduate programs, which have been duly approved by the Governing Council.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations holds key responsibilities, including ensuring the implementation of syllabi, collection and vetting of question papers, appointment of examiners, conduct of examinations, evaluation, declaration of results, and issuance of grade sheets. The institution follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to provide students with greater freedom and flexibility. This system allows students to select courses of their choice, learn at their own pace, pursue additional courses, earn extra credits, and adopt an interdisciplinary approach to learning.
